A question from Evan

In the film, God (as the server "Al Mighty") talks to Joan and tries to help her understand why her husband says God told him to build an ark. God says, "If someone prays for patience, do think God gives them patience or opportunities to be patient? If someone prays for courage, does God give them courage, or give them opportunites to be courageous? And if a someone prays for a family to become closer, do you think God zaps them with loving feelings or gives them opportunities to become closer?" What can you understand about the way God works from that conversation?

God says if you ask for something, he doesn't neccessarily give it to you, you have to work for it. He helps you through what you need to get through, but it also takes your works, prayers and offerings.

when morgan freeman said this it kind of gave me a bit of realization....i understood a lil more about how God works and why we dont get what we ask for in the way we expect

God gave us free will, so he meets us half way by giving us oppurtunities. If we want the change to occur, we cannot rely on God to change us. It becomes our responsibility after being given opportunities. We cannot expect God to fix all our problems, but we can expect help from God through it all.

God makes us work for what we ask him for. I agree with Amanda completely. God wants us to meet him halfway and if we show the willingness to do that, he will help us with the stuff he feels he should help us with.
